Raja Shivaji Box Office Collection Day 1: Riteish Deshmukh’s Raja Shivaji finally hit theatres on Friday and received largely positive reviews from critics and the audience. It has now been reported that
the film earned a little over ₹11 crore at the box office on its opening day.
As reported by the industry tracker Sacnilk, Raja Shivaji collected a net of ₹11.35 Cr across 6,192 shows in India on its first day of release. While the Marathi version of the film earned ₹8.00 crore, the Hindi market contributed ₹3.35 crore to the film’s day one box office.
Raja Shivaji also recorded the highest occupancy from Sangli in Maharashtra, followed by Pune, Mumbai and Nashik.
What Does Raja Shivaji Revolve Around?
Raja Shivaji features Riteish Deshmukh in the titular role and boasts an impressive ensemble, including Abhishek Bachchan, Genelia Deshmukh, Sanjay Dutt, Mahesh Manjrekar, Sachin Khedekar, Bhagyashree, Fardeen Khan, Jitendra Joshi, and Amole Gupte, among others.
The historical drama traces the early life of the Maratha ruler, focusing on his vision of Swarajya and his resistance against the powerful forces of the time. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was the founder of the Maratha Empire in western India. He established an independent kingdom by challenging the Deccan Sultanates and the Mughal Empire. In 1663, Shivaji led a successful raid on Pune, targeting Mughal general Shaista Khan, which weakened Mughal control in the region. In 1664, Shivaji conducted the first sack of Surat, a major Mughal port city, disrupting imperial trade.
The film is backed by Jyoti Deshpande and Genelia Deshmukh under Mumbai Film Company and is presented by Jio Studios.
