Actors are often assumed to follow rigid diet plans and punishing workout schedules to stay camera-ready. But Hansika Motwanni recently shattered that stereotype by sharing a refreshingly honest take on her
fitness philosophy, one that doesn’t involve dieting at all.
Hansika Motwanni on why she doesn’t diet
The revelation came during a light-hearted moment on filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan’s cooking vlog, when Farah paid a visit to Hansika’s home. While chatting in the kitchen, Hansika asked Dilip about his favourite dish to cook, to which Farah responded that he makes an excellent yakhni pulao. That’s when Farah casually mentioned that Hansika had requested her not to bring any food along, joking, “Ma’am dieting pe hain.”
Hansika was quick to correct her. “Ma’am, I don’t diet,” she said, leaving Farah visibly surprised. Curious, Farah immediately asked what the actor’s fitness secret was, especially given her consistently toned appearance. Hansika’s answer was simple and unapologetic, she credits Pilates and proudly called herself a “Pilates girl.”
Why Pilates works for her
Pilates is a low-impact form of exercise that focuses on controlled movements, core strength, flexibility, posture, and mindful breathing. Unlike high-intensity workouts that can strain joints, Pilates builds lean muscle while improving balance and body awareness, making it a sustainable long-term fitness practice.
It’s also one of the reasons Pilates has become a favourite among celebrities. Actors like Janhvi Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ananya Panday, and Alia Bhatt have often spoken about incorporating Pilates into their routines to stay strong, flexible, and injury-free, without extreme dieting.
Hansika’s approach reflects a growing shift in fitness culture, where consistency and movement are prioritised over food restriction. Her candid admission resonated with fans who appreciated the message that staying fit doesn’t always require cutting out favourite foods or following unrealistic diet rules.
What’s next for Hansika
On the work front, Hansika was last seen in the Tamil horror film Guardian, which released in 2024. The film, also starring Suresh Chandra Menon and Sriman, received largely negative reviews.
She will next appear in Gandhari, directed by R Kannan. The film features Hansika in a dual role alongside Metro Sirish, with Mayilsamy, Thalaivasal Vijay, Adukalam Naren, Vinodhini, and Brigida Saga in supporting roles. The release date for the horror thriller is yet to be announced.
With her no-diet stance and Pilates-first mindset, Hansika Motwanni is redefining fitness in a way that feels balanced, realistic, and refreshingly relatable.
