Amitabh or Ranbir, Who Owns More Land in Ayodhya?
Amitabh Bachchan didn’t just purchase a land parcel in The Sarayu project, but also invested in properties surrounding the development. In 2024, Amitabh Bachchan purchased a 10,000 sq ft plot in HoABL’s luxury development The Sarayu for about Rs 15 crore. In 2025, he acquired another 25,000 sq ft plot near The Sarayu project for roughly Rs 40 crore.
In 2026, he bought a 2.67-acre land parcel worth Rs 35 crore. This brings his total expenditure to Rs 90 crore. The value of the parcel bought via the Trust has not been disclosed. Recently, Abhinandan Lodha revealed that Amitabh Bachchan wanted to invest in Ayodhya since he is from Uttar Pradesh.
From purchasing residential plots to acquiring large parcels of land through the Harivansh Rai Bachchan Memorial Trust, the Bollywood icon has repeatedly invested in the temple city. While the actor has not publicly detailed every investment, available records and statements from those involved point to a combination of personal, cultural and long-term investment reasons.
Besides Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor also feels a connection to the city, as he is playing Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana. Ahead of the release of his highly anticipated magnum opus, Ranbir Kapoor bought land in Ayodhya this year. He invested Rs 3.31 crore in a 2,134 sq. ft. plot in Ayodhya.
Reflecting on his investment, Ranbir had said in a statement, “I believe Ayodhya has chosen me, and I have just answered this calling.” “Ayodhya is deeply rooted in our history and is a critical part of our cultural fabric. This land at The Sarayu became my gateway to ensuring this becomes a part of my legacy for my family…,” the actor concluded.
