With Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) becoming the eighth different franchise to have won the Indian Premier League, only three teams remain who are yet to lay their hands on the silverware. While two
of them – Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals – have come agonisingly close to ending their wait in the past by reaching the finals, Lucknow Super Giants have not progressed beyond the playoffs stage in their four seasons since joining the league.
With the 19th season of IPL set to roll in a couple of days’ time, the banter between the teams and players has taken flight. And Jitesh Sharma has roasted the three franchises that are yet to win the title including PBKS – a team with which he began his IPL career – by predicting their wait will continue.
Jitesh joined RCB after being released by PBKS before the mega auction in 2024. He was signed for Rs 11 crore and in his first season with them, ended up winning the title last year.
During a podcast, when the host remarked that only three teams haven’t won the title yet, Sharma quickly responded, “Bachi rahengi (They will remain so).”
However, he quickly added that it’s because RCB will be trying to win the trophy again.

In an interview with ESPNcricnfo, Jitesh had praised RCB for treating everyone who is part of the franchise equally.
“RCB treats every person – it doesn’t matter if they are ball boys or net bowlers – with respect and equality,” he said. “Mo Bobat, Andy Flower, Dinesh Karthik… when all good people get together as a unit, then the team automatically becomes great, and that’s what has happened at RCB. That’s why this team is very special to me.”
Jitesh played a key role in RCB’s title triumph, hitting 261 runs at a strike-rate of 176.35.
“I am able to find out my real potential because of this management. In RCB, there is an extra responsibility. It’s a big name, a big brand. Whatever you do here, you do it after putting in a lot of thought,” he said.
