Heavy rain lashed parts of Noida and Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddh Nagar district and parts of Delhi on Wednesday, as the India Meteorological Department predicted heavy showers for the day.
The afternoon saw dark clouds hovering over parts of Noida, followed by a spell of heavy downpour, reducing the visibility to a significant level.
“Isolated heavy rainfall likely to continue over West Uttar Pradesh on September 3,” one of the IMD’s statements read.
The Gautam Buddh Nagar authorities had on Tuesday ordered all schools for students from nursery to Class 12 to remain closed on Wednesday.
The order applies to schools under the Basic Education Department, government-aided institutions, and those affiliated with the CBSE, ICSE and Madrasa Board, the district administration said in a statement.
However, all teaching and non-teaching staff working in basic education and composite schools were directed to report to duty on time and perform departmental work as usual, it added.
The administration had also asked all schools to ensure strict compliance with the order.
