What was meant to be a routine film promotion turned tense for actor Nidhhi Agerwal last month, and the moment quickly sparked a wider conversation online. After videos of her being mobbed at a promotional
event began circulating, the actor has finally responded, choosing her words carefully while saying she will speak in detail at a later time.
The incident took place at a Hyderabad mall during promotions for Nidhhi’s latest film, The Raja Saab. A video from the event showed the actor attempting to make her way through a packed crowd towards her car. In the clip, she appeared visibly uncomfortable as a large group of men surrounded her, with several social media users later pointing out that members of the crowd were trying to touch her despite security personnel trying to clear a path.
The footage triggered criticism from within the Telugu film industry, with several voices questioning the lack of adequate security arrangements and expressing support for the actor.
Addressing the incident, Nidhhi told PTI, “Well, it was an unfortunate incident that took place that day.” She added that while she has a lot to say about what happened, she believes it is important to speak at the right moment. “I have so much to say about that incident, but I feel like I want to speak at the right time because it’s a very sensitive topic, and anything I say can be taken out of context by people who are reading stuff and all of that. So I will talk about it, but in some time,” she said.
On the work front, Nidhhi is currently seen in The Raja Saab, a horror comedy headlined by Prabhas. Directed by Maruthi, the film also stars Sanjay Dutt, Malavika Mohanan, Riddhi Kumar, Boman Irani and Zarina Wahab. The film hit theatres on January 9, ahead of the Sankranti weekend, and marks Prabhas’ return to the family entertainer genre.
