India on Wednesday took a veiled dig at Pakistan and China, stressing that terror listing at the United Nations Security Council must not be encumbered by political interference.
At the UN Security Council
Open Debate on Working Methods, India’s Ambassador Yojna Patel made a veiled attack on Pakistan and China against “pursuing narrow political interests” on the global platform.
Without naming any country, Patel said that membership of the Security Council should not be used to shield terrorists or get them delisted.
“There must be more transparency and objectivity on this front. Presence in the Security Council must not be instrumentalised to legitimise terrorists by attempting to delist them or to list other entities as terrorist organisations based solely on political considerations”, she said.
In a strongly-worded message, the envoy asserted that the United Nations must not become a platform to “pursue narrow political interests”.
