A video of a cyclist getting hit by a car has drawn users on X into a fierce debate. The clip, shared by an account named Drive Smart, shows the series of events leading to a car hitting a cyclist on a winter
day. The video has led to a discussion on traffic rules, accountability and bad luck when it comes to accidents. The incident was caught on camera on the afternoon of December 31. The location of the clip is not mentioned in the recording.
It is not yet known whether the cyclist sustained serious injuries. News18 could not verify the details of the accident. The video was shared with the caption, “Nothing changes until we change !!”
Video Of Accident Grabs Attention
The video shows a highway with little traffic. Buses are going down one side of the road. There is a sign for the emergency number 112 on the divider. A cyclist slowly peddles his way across the road through a gap. At the same time, a car is speeding through the lane. Just moments after turning, the cyclist is mowed down by the car. He flies to the air and falls a few metres away. The clip ends with the car driver looking on in shock.

Social Media Divided On Who Is Responsible For The Accident
The video led to mixed reactions, with some accounts blaming the cyclist for the accident. “The cyclist is to blame. Yes, the signboard created a visual obstacle. But that doesn’t mean one can cross a busy road just like that,” one user wrote.

Another person said, “For God sake start saying the right thing, cyclist should have stopped as he had to take a turn. Sign board, bushes and the car driver ( he was NOT at fault) everyone is getting blamed except the lack of road safety rules and awareness by the cyclist.”

One individual pointed out how the signboard with the emergency number was blocking people’s view of the highway. “The irony – the board displaying the emergency number 112, is most probably blocking the view of the other side of the highway for anyone approaching the gap riding/driving close to the median,” the comment read.

Some people sarcastically called the person who decided to get the sign installed at that location “a genius.”

An account mentioned that such “predictable” accidents would be easier to avoid with “simple rules and defensive driving.”
Concerns me how predictable the incidents are . I would be easy to avoid bulk of them with simple rules and defensive driving . https://t.co/2ylJTimzXu

“Suicidal cyclist – turning without stopping to look. Homicidal car driver – needs to slow down if there is a break in the divider. Whatever the hurry was, must have been worth it for both of them,” another remarked.

Some people tried to look at the lighter side of the incident. “112 helpline did not have enough to do, apparently. So it created an emergency by cutting visibility for everyone,” a user quipped.

The video continues to be debated across social media. The failure to follow basic road safety rules was a big point of discussion. Many users advocated for better highway design and more awareness of road safety rules to prevent such incidents in the future.
