The recognition came during a meeting between the Chief Minister and representatives of the Tamil Film Active Producers Association (TFAPA), with producer S. R. Prabhu among the attendees. The delegation included key members of the association, such as president TG Thyagarajan, general secretary T Siva, treasurer G Dhananjayan, vice-presidents SR Prabhu and SS Lalit Kumar, along with joint secretaries Mukesh R Mehta and S Vinoth Kumar. During the meeting, the association reportedly contributed ₹10 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund through a bank draft. Amid the interaction, Vijay personally congratulated SR Prabhu and extended his best wishes on the remarkable theatrical success of the film.
Meanwhile, earlier today, the makers issued a formal clarification and expressed ‘deep regret’ following controversy over a dialogue allegedly referencing legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja. The film had drawn criticism after reports suggested that a satirical scene in the second half appeared to reference Ilaiyaraaja’s real-life copyright battles, which many felt was disrespectful to the veteran composer. A part of their statement read, “Dream Warrior Pictures wishes to express its sincere respect and admiration for Maestro Mr. Ilaiyaraaja and his extraordinary contribution to Indian cinema and music, which has inspired generations and continues to hold a special place in the hearts of audiences across the world. We understand that a particular dialogue appearing in Karuppu has caused concern and has upset him. We sincerely regret that the dialogue has resulted in such sentiments.”
Speaking of the box office, Suriya and Trisha’s film has now crossed the ₹80 crore mark in India within four days of release. According to Sacnilk, the film earned ₹14.30 crore net on Monday. With that, its total domestic collection stands at ₹82.30 crore.
