Every love story has its own little magical moments, and Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna have a few of their own. The couple shared some sweet memories on Koffee with Karan Season 9 as they came
together as guests on the show.
Vijay revealed that he had wanted to propose to Rashmika during their trip to Italy in December, before their wedding in February. He had the place picked out, but there was one small problem… he couldn’t find the right ring.
Speaking to host Karan Johar, Vijay explained why he wanted Rashmika to have a special proposal story. A source shared the conversation with India Today. Vijay said, “I didn’t want Rashmika not to have one [proposal story]. Before our marriage in February, so in December when we were in Italy, I felt like I didn’t want her to not have a proposal story just because I am not that kind. I wanted to do it in Italy but couldn’t find the right ring.”
Vijay ultimately popped the question on the first day of their wedding celebrations in Udaipur, after the sangeet.

The couple also wanted their wedding to feel like a fairytale shared only with the people they loved. They wanted to dance, laugh and enjoy every moment without worrying about cameras or posing for pictures. That is why they decided to keep phones away during their February wedding. Vijay was particular about making sure everyone could enjoy the celebrations without constantly reaching for their cameras.
As a source shared with India Today, Vijay said, “One thing I was particular about was that I didn’t want any cameras around me… firstly nobody had phones”. Rashmika loved the idea too. Talking about the phone-free wedding, she said, “It made it so much more fun.”
“And the team who were shooting us also were instructed not to come in front of us and be like ‘Sir turn this way, that way’. I didn’t want to see anyone on stage other than my friends and family,” he mentioned.
Vijay and Rashmika will appear in the second episode of Koffee with Karan Season 9, streaming on JioHotstar.
On the show, Vijay Deverakonda revealed that Rashmika Mandanna was the one who asked him to get married, while he never formally proposed to her. In the promo, host Karan Johar asked the couple whether there was a proposal. Vijay said, “She was like, ‘Let’s get married.’ I was like, ‘Okay, you have asked me a 100 times.'”
Karan then turned to Rashmika and asks if she really brought up marriage 100 times. The actress clarified, “I asked him for an entire year.” Vijay followed up with, “I am not an a**hole.”
Vijay and Rashmika got married on February 26, 2026, in an intimate ceremony at ITC Mementos in Udaipur, Rajasthan, with a traditional Telugu wedding in the morning and a Kodava ceremony in the evening.
