Drishyam 3 Postponed
The film, which was earlier slated to hit theatres on April 2, 2026, has now been postponed to May 21, 2026. The announcement was made by Mohanlal himself on social media, along with a cryptic tease that has already heightened anticipation among fans. “The past never stays silent… it only waits. Georgekutty arrives, May 21, 2026. Drishyam 3 | Worldwide Release,” the actor wrote. The new release date holds added significance as it coincides with Mohanlal’s 66th birthday, turning the film’s arrival into a celebratory moment for his fans. While the makers have not officially revealed the reason behind the delay, reports suggest that the decision may be linked to the film’s release challenges in GCC countries under the current social climate. However, this remains unconfirmed.
Revisiting The Drishyam Legacy
The Drishyam franchise has long been celebrated for its gripping storytelling and layered narrative. The story follows Georgekutty, a seemingly ordinary man whose life takes a dramatic turn when his family becomes entangled in a high-stakes investigation involving the disappearance of IG Geetha Prabhakar’s son.
While the first film established the foundation of the story, Drishyam 2 expanded its emotional and psychological stakes. The third installment is expected to push the narrative into an even more intense and unpredictable territory.
Mohanlal has a packed slate ahead. He is currently shooting for L366, directed by Tharun Moorthy and co-starring Meera Jasmine. The actor has also lined up multiple high-profile projects, including Priyadarshan’s milestone 100th film and appearances in Jailer 2 and Khalifa: Part 1.
