What began as a routine commute on a Mumbai local train turned tragic for Alok Singh after a brief argument with a fellow passenger escalated into a violent knife attack.
Police said they received information
on Friday about a man lying injured on Platform No. 1 at Malad railway station. The victim, later identified as Alok Singh, had suffered multiple stab wounds to the abdomen.
According to investigators, Singh and the assailant were travelling in the same local train when they got into an argument over a minor issue. The altercation continued for some time before the accused suddenly pulled out a knife and attacked Singh, eyewitnesses said.
Singh was stabbed several times in the stomach and had little time to react. The attacker fled the scene as soon as the train arrived at Malad station.
Despite his injuries, Singh managed to step off the train but collapsed on the platform, clutching his abdomen in an attempt to stem the bleeding. He was later rushed to hospital.
Police have launched a search for the accused, whose identity is yet to be established, and are reviewing CCTV footage from the station and surrounding areas to trace him.
