Batman fans, did you hear? The makers of Batman: Part II just shared a big update on the upcoming superhero film. Featuring Robert Pattinson as the iconic Caped Crusader, the highly anticipated DC film is
a sequel to the Matt Reeves-directed movie The Batman. It hit the theatres back in March 2022 and was a massive hit among the fans of the DC superhero, earning a massive $772 million at the worldwide box office.
Recently, in a letter that was received by Warner Bros. Discovery’s shareholders, the makers announced that Batman: Part II is officially scheduled to begin shooting next year. As reported by Variety, “‘The Batman II’ (2027) is preparing to begin shooting next spring, among several other projects in development,” a section of the letter read.
Reportedly, Batman: Part II has already entered the pre-production stage. The principal photography of the film is scheduled to begin on January 1, 2026, at Warner Bros. Studios located in London. While Robert Pattinson will return as Bruce Wayne, aka the Dark Knight of Gotham, Colin Farrell will also return as the antagonist, The Penguin. Moreover, Jeffrey Wright will once again be as Commissioner Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Barry Keoghan will reprise his role as the Joker in Batman 2.
Why Batman Part 2 Got Delayed?
Just like The Batman, its sequel also faced quite a number of delays, partly due to the changes at DC Studios when James Gunn took charge alongside Peter Safran. While the Superman director is busy streamlining the DC Universe, he did not stop Matt Reeves from continuing the story of Batman in the Elseworlds. This meant that Robert Pattinson’s Batman won’t be sharing the new DC Universe with David Corenswet’s Superman.
What Is The Plot Of Batman 2?
Just weeks back, the director of the upcoming movie, Matt Reeves, revealed that the script for Batman 2 is now complete. But he refrained from divulging details on what the storyline would be. However, if reports are to be believed, the sequel to the 2022 film would revolve around Gotham’s recovery from the flood, which was shown in the first instalment. There are chances that the plot could also be set after the events of the TV series The Penguin, which revolved around the origin of Oswald Cobblepot, who became one of the biggest criminals in Gotham. The Batman Part 2 is scheduled to hit the theatres in October 2027, over five years after the release of the first film.
