Oracle has started another round of layoffs in India, with employees in several mid- and senior-level roles reportedly affected as the technology company continues its wider restructuring.

cuts began in India on Monday, according to people familiar with the matter. The impact appears to be particularly visible in web development and maintenance roles, although the full extent of the restructuring remains unclear.
Sources cited by The Times of India estimate that between 1,000 and 1,500 employees in India could be affected in the latest round. However, the figure has not been independently verified, and Oracle has not publicly confirmed the number of employees impacted.
Oracle Layoffs Hit India Again
The latest layoffs come just months after Oracle carried out a much larger workforce reduction in India as part of its global restructuring.
Employees at different levels have reportedly received termination communications, with the latest round appearing to affect some mid- to senior-level technology workers. Web development and maintenance teams have been among those reported as being affected.
The situation at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) in India remains less clear. Reports have suggested that OCI could also be affected, but the exact number of employees impacted in the cloud infrastructure business has not been independently established.
Oracle had not responded to requests for comment at the time of publication of the Times of India report.
The fresh India layoffs are part of a broader restructuring at Oracle that comes as the company increases spending on artificial intelligence, cloud infrastructure and data centres.
Oracle disclosed earlier that it had reduced its global workforce by about 21,000 employees during fiscal 2026, representing roughly 13% of its workforce at the time. The company is simultaneously directing substantial investment towards AI and cloud infrastructure.
That has created a significant shift in the types of technology roles being prioritised, with areas such as AI, cloud, data-centre infrastructure, cybersecurity and automation becoming increasingly important.
For employees affected by the latest cuts, however, the immediate concern is finding new opportunities as the restructuring continues.
How Many Oracle Employees Are Being Laid Off In India?
The exact number remains uncertain.
Different reports have produced different estimates for the latest India round, ranging from around 1,000–1,500 employees to roughly 3,000, depending on the source and the teams included in the count. Oracle has not officially announced an India figure.
That means the 1,500 figure should be treated as an estimate rather than a confirmed layoff number.
The latest developments also suggest that the restructuring may not be limited to a single business unit, with reports indicating that product engineering and other technology functions have experienced cuts.
