Iran on Friday claimed it had inflicted “serious damage” on US military assets in Jordan, saying a missile and drone attack on the Al-Azraq air base destroyed several American fighter jets and support
aircraft, as the conflict between Washington and Tehran continued to escalate.
According to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the overnight operation targeted the US-operated section of the Al-Azraq air base in eastern Jordan, where American fighter aircraft and refuelling planes are stationed. Iranian state media reported that multiple F-16s, F-35s, tanker aircraft and military drones were either destroyed or severely damaged.
The Iranian military also claimed the strike caused casualties among US personnel and disrupted operations at the base. However, neither the United States nor Jordan has confirmed the claims.

The latest claims come after the US carried out another wave of strikes on military and infrastructure targets in southern Iran, including areas near the Strait of Hormuz. Tehran has vowed retaliation, warning that all American military facilities in the region remain within the range of its missiles and drones.
Explosions were reported near the Al-Azraq air base on Thursday night, with videos circulating on social media showing flashes in the sky as air defence systems appeared to intercept incoming projectiles. Jordan said it had intercepted several missiles entering its airspace but did not disclose whether the air base was hit.
No End To War
A month after they agreed to a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the conflict that began in February, Iran and the United States have intensified fighting with strikes on targets around the region.
Iran on Friday accusedUS forces of hitting civilian infrastructure, including an airport, a railway station and two bridges, with state media reporting at least eight dead and 20 injured in overnight attacks.

“I officially declare that if the Americans strike the infrastructure of the Islamic republic, then all infrastructure across the region will become legitimate targets for Iran,” Iranian state TV quoted a senior armed forces spokesperson as saying late Thursday.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards later said they had attacked two US radar sites in the Gulf sultanate of Oman as well as Al-Tanf military base in Syria, which US forces said they withdrew from earlier this year.
