Parts of Manipur continue to reel under the impact of rain-induced flooding with several areas, including Mayang Imphal in the Imphal West district, still submerged.
Residents in Mayang Imphal are facing

Visuals have emerged from the flooded areas of Mayang Imphal, showing people wading through the floodwaters.
Local authorities and disaster response teams have been deployed to carry out rescue and relief operations, while temporary shelters have been set up for affected residents. The state government has urged people living near riverbanks to remain alert as water levels continue to rise due to rainfall.
Heavy rainfall in the northeastern state over the past few days has led to several landslides in different districts, causing damage to roads, houses, and farmland. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has also predicted more rainfall for today.
Further, all schools and colleges remained shut on September 17 owing to heavy rain and floods across the Imphal valley and other areas of the state.
Earlier on Sunday night, two rivers broke their embankments in different parts of Imphal Valley, flooding huge stretches of farmland and residential zones, state officials said. A relief camp at Wangjing Kodompokpi Sports Complex was severely waterlogged.
While the Iril river overflowed at Kshetrigao, submerging farmlands, homes, and roads in Imphal East district, the Wangjing river was flowing above the danger mark, flooding the Sangaiyumpham and Wangjing areas in Thoubal district.
The floods have worsened the plight of those already struggling to recover and rebuild their lives.
