Post-COVID-19, there has been a lot of chatter about brain fog being one of the symptoms of the virus that had the entire world in a chokehold. Not just this, but even hormonal issues like menopause can
cause brain fog in women. In fact, pregnancy and postpartum can cause lapses in memory and even have their own names, ‘pregnancy brain’ or ‘mommy brain’, as this is a symptom that has been noticed among many women. Brain fog can also be a symptom of other illnesses like thyroid, lupus, diabetes, and more. Furthermore, factors like stress, lack of sleep, diet and even the medications you take can affect your memory.
So it is safe to say that brain fog can happen to anyone. It is not a disease but a series of symptoms that have been clubbed together under an umbrella – mental cloudiness, poor focus, memory issues, and confusion.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu spoke to nutritionist Rashi Chowdhary on the latter’s health podcast. Rashi believes in reconnecting with “yourself through food” and specialises in gut health, PCOS, thyroid, endometriosis and weight management.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu also has her own health-focused podcast, titled Take 20, which she began after facing health issues that forced her to take a step back from her film work. She has spoken to several health experts on her podcast in order to create conversation about health issues that plague people but that might be considered taboo or don’t have a lot of awareness around them.
The nutritionist shared a small clip from the podcast on her Instagram and wrote in the caption, “Brain fog usually comes from inflammation, low energy, or weak neurotransmitter support. It’s not random, it’s biochemical… Brain fog is information. When you listen to it and support the root cause, clarity becomes the side effect (a positive one).”
In the video, she shared details on how to deal with brain fog. She also listed what foods to include in your diet that can help clear the fog.
Nutritionist Rashi Chowdhary lists 3 foods that she believes can help get rid of your brain fog and how they can help:
- Ghee + turmeric root – Healthy fats improve brain cell communication, while turmeric helps calm neuro-inflammation that slows thinking.
- Lion’s mane – Supports nerve growth factor (NGF), which plays a role in memory, focus, and mental clarity.
- Creatine monohydrate – Improves brain energy availability, which is especially helpful if mental fatigue, poor sleep, or stress is involved.
