Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected BJP government in West Bengal at Brigade Parade Ground at 10 am on May 9, on the occasion of Rabindra Jayanti.
Accompanying
the Prime Minister on stage will be Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national president Nitin Nabin and the chief ministers of several NDA-ruled states.
Amit Shah arrived in Kolkata on Friday to attend the BJP legislature party meeting, during which the party’s legislative leader will be elected ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of the BJP’s first government in West Bengal.
Shah was received at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport by Suvendu Adhikari and other BJP leaders.
Later in the day, the Union Home Minister is scheduled to participate in the BJP legislature party meeting at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre.

The BJP registered a historic victory in the recently concluded West Bengal Assembly elections, ending the TMC’s 15-year rule in the state and handing TMC supremo and outgoing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee a major political setback.
Preparations for the swearing-in ceremony began at Brigade Parade Ground on Wednesday, with senior officers reviewing the ground layout. State BJP chief Samik Bhattacharya visited the state secretariat, Nabanna, to discuss the arrangements with the chief secretary and home secretary.
BJP flags, cutouts of PM Modi have been put up in parts of the city ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of the BJP government in the state.
Police are tightening security around the ceremony. Nearly 4,000 personnel will be deployed, supported by central forces and Quick Response Teams. Surveillance will also be carried out from nearby high-rise buildings to ensure safety.
Meanwhile, West Bengal Governor RN Ravi dissolved the legislative assembly with effect from May 7, paving the way for the formation of the new government.
