Rani Mukerji’s Mardaani 3 is creating a lot of buzz ever since its announcement, and now a report suggests that the movie has passed through the CBFC with a U/A 16+ certificate and is touted to be the lengthiest
film in the series. As Rani Mukerji steps into the role of fierce Senior Inspector Shivani Shivaji Roy to bring back yet another chilling story, the film has gotten a green light from the CBFC.
As per Bollywood Hungama, “The film’s approved runtime is 2 hours, 10 minutes, and 36 seconds. The first half is a bit longer at 1 hour, 6 minutes, and 30 seconds. The length of the second half, meanwhile, is 1 hour, 4 minutes, and 6 seconds.”
After the release of the film’s trailer, it was presumed that the movie would get an A certificate, but now it has cleared the censor test with a U/A certificate, meaning it can reach more audiences, especially the youth.
It was only the first part of the Mardaani series that was a rare YRF film to get an A certificate.
Rani Mukerji on the Mardaani series
“I’m a married woman who has had a baby. Every month, year, and decade is different for us because of our hormonal changes. We’re constantly battling that. Then we have to work on a role like Shivani, where you have to look a certain way; your body language and manner of speaking have to [convey] that you are a cop,” Rani shared while speaking with Mid-Day.
She added, “Emotionally, the trauma that the girls suffer in the film is also what we suffer indirectly, as we know that they are inspired by true events. To think of the missing girls and what their families go through is traumatising. I had to detach myself from these emotions because if I get too emotional, I may not be able to portray the part well. When I pick up subjects like Mardaani, I’m trying to shake people up and tell them, ‘Look, this is happening around us.’”
Scheduled for a January 30 release, Mardaani 3, directed by Abhiraj Minawala and produced by Aditya Chopra, continues the franchise’s tradition of socially relevant cinema. While Mardaani exposed the grim realities of human trafficking and Mardaani 2 explored the disturbing psyche of a serial rapist who challenged the system,Mardaani 3 delves into another dark and brutal reality of our society, further strengthening the franchise’s legacy of impactful, issue-based storytelling.
