A remarkable journey of resilience and redemption has emerged from Madhya Pradesh, where rising cricketer Kranti Goud has not only made her mark on the international stage but also helped rewrite her family’s
destiny.
In 2012, Kranti’s father, Munna Singh, then a constable with the MP Police, was suspended over alleged negligence during election duty. The decision, came as a severe blow to the family, plunging them into financial uncertainty and social stigma in their native village of Ghuwara. What followed was a prolonged legal struggle and years of hardship, but the family refused to surrender to despair.
During this turbulent phase, cricket became Kranti’s lifeline. With limited resources and mounting responsibilities at home, she trained persistently, often fighting thoughts of giving up. Her determination, however, began to bear fruit as she rose steadily through the ranks, eventually earning a place in the national women’s cricket team. Her success brought pride not only to her family, but also to her village and state.
As Kranti’s career flourished, attention returned to her father’s long-pending case. With the intervention of Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, the government reviewed the suspension. Nearly 13 years after the incident, the state authorities revoked the suspension order and reinstated Munna Singh to service.
