India’s first bullet train project is slowly taking shape, and Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) will play a key role in it. The high-speed train will begin its journey from BKC, making it a major transport
hub in the coming years. With construction picking up pace, people are getting a closer look at how the project is being built.
Several videos showing updates from the bullet train site have been circulating online. While many clips have surfaced, two particular videos are drawing the most attention as they explain the route and show the massive underground work happening at the Mumbai station.
First Video Explains The Bullet Train Route
In the first video, the narrator details the full journey of India’s first bullet train. He says, “India’s first bullet train will start from BKC (Bandra Kurla Complex) in Mumbai. From there, the train will travel underground for 21 kilometres to Shilphata near Thane. Approximately seven kilometres of this 21-kilometre stretch will be built underwater beneath the Thane Creek.”
He further adds that after crossing Thane, the train will move through parts of Maharashtra, including Virar and Boisar, before entering Gujarat. “Its first station in Gujarat will be Vapi, and from there, after a stop in Bilimora, the bullet train will reach the Diamond City, Surat,” he explains.
The narrator continues, “After that, with stops in Bharuch, Vadodara, and Anand, the train will reach Ahmedabad, where its final stop will be Sabarmati.” He mentions that the total distance between Mumbai and Ahmedabad will be 508 kilometres. According to him, the train will run at a speed of 320 kilometres per hour, cutting travel time from seven to eight hours to just two to two and a half hours.
Second Video Shows Inside The BKC Bullet Train Station
The second video shows a man, believed to be a civil engineer, standing inside the under-construction bullet train station at BKC. Wearing a helmet and safety vest, he walks viewers through the site and explains what is being built.
He begins by saying, “I am at the Mumbai bullet train station, which is located in BKC, the only station that you will find underground.” He then points to the steel bars around him and says, “One steel bar, or one rod, weighs around 118 kilograms. Six people are needed to lift one of these 118-kilogram steel bars, and look how much steel they’ve used here!”
He explains that the station is being built with earthquake safety in mind and adds, “If you look, I am approximately 25 meters below ground level.” He also reveals that the BKC station will have six platforms for bullet trains. “The tracks will be laid here, then the platforms will be built above, then there will be ticket counters, business lounges, and other levels above that,” he says, while showing ongoing work all around him.
More Details About The Deep Underground BKC Station
According to a report by News24, the BKC bullet train station is set to become India’s deepest railway station, built around 100 feet below ground level. The station will have six platforms and multiple underground levels designed to handle large crowds smoothly. It will also be connected to other transport systems in Mumbai for easier travel. The station is being built using advanced technology to ensure safety, strength, and long-term use. Ticket prices for the bullet train journey, however, have not been announced yet.
