Salman Khan has received approval to construct a new six-storey residential building in Mumbai’s Bandra, bringing the Khan family a step closer to a new home in the neighbourhood where the actor has lived
for decades.
However, there is no official confirmation yet on whether Salman will move out of Galaxy Apartments, his long-time Bandra residence, where he has lived since 1974.
Salman Khan Gets Approval For New Bandra Building
The Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority granted approval for the proposed building on June 16. The new residential structure will come up in Bandra’s Chimbai area, located a short distance from Galaxy Apartments.
According to MCZMA sources, the plot where the building is set to be constructed is registered in the name of Salman Khan’s mother, Salma Khan. The property earlier had a two-storey house that had been standing since before 1956. The old structure was later demolished after it became structurally unsafe.
The approved project includes a ground floor, stilt parking and six upper floors. The proposed building will have a total built-up area of around 1,014 square metres and will be developed by Sach Developers.
The project had earlier received the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s Intimation of Disapproval, a preliminary approval, in October 2025. With the MCZMA clearance now in place, the development has moved closer to the construction stage.
No Trees To Be Cut During Construction
The approval also comes with environmental conditions. As per the clearance, no existing trees will be cut during the construction of the building. Instead, new trees belonging to local species will be planted around the property.
The move is part of the environmental safeguards attached to the project, given that the construction falls under the purview of the coastal zone authority.
Will Salman Khan Leave Galaxy Apartments?
While the new building has sparked speculation about whether Salman Khan and his family will move out of Galaxy Apartments, there is no official confirmation on the matter so far.
Galaxy Apartments has been closely associated with the actor for decades. Salman has often been spotted greeting fans from the residence, especially on festivals and his birthday, making it one of Mumbai’s most recognised celebrity addresses.
The new property, however, is located on a quieter lane away from the main road. The location is expected to offer the Khan family more privacy and enhanced security.
Salman Khan’s Security Was Heightened After Firing Incident
The development comes more than two years after Salman Khan’s security was increased following the firing incident outside Galaxy Apartments. The attack was allegedly carried out by members of the Bishnoi gang.
The actor currently has Y+ security cover. Given the heightened security concerns in recent years, the new Bandra property’s relatively quieter location has added to speculation that it could serve as a more private and secure residence for the Khan family in the future.
For now, while the project has received an important approval, Salman Khan’s possible move from Galaxy Apartments remains unconfirmed.
