Zayn Malik has no regrets about spoiling his five-year-old daughter, Khai, whom he co-parents with his ex-girlfriend, Gigi Hadid. During the February 11 episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, the 33-year-old
singer revealed that he gave his daughter such a pricey gift for losing her first tooth that it did not go well with Khai’s mother.
“I think I gave her a bit too much money from the Tooth Fairy,” Zayn told host Alex Cooper, revealing that he gave her a whopping £500, which is around Rs 61,000. The gesture, he admitted with a laugh, got the supermodel “mad” at him. Even the host was in shock upon hearing the amount, and she said she is with Gigi on this one. However, the former One Direction member had his own reasons.

Zayn added, “It’s her first tooth! Her mom gave me s–t for it, but at the end of the day, I work my ass off, and I should be able to give my kid what I want to give her.” He also shared that he plans to frame Khai’s first lost tooth as a keepsake. As for future Tooth Fairy visits, he joked that the next visits may come with a much smaller budget. He said, “She gets $5. The Tooth Fairy’s gone broke now, so I’m not giving you anything else.”

Behind the humour, Zayn reflected on how his own upbringing shaped the way he parents Khai. Growing up with limited financial means, he said it meant everything to him to be able to provide his daughter with experiences and a comfortable life now. “She’s my first kid. People in general look at it in a certain type of way. But [growing up], I was lucky if I got anything for my teeth. I’ve worked really hard for everything that I’ve earned, so I don’t feel like I should have to answer for those things,” he explained.
Zayn continued, “I’m raising her in an environment that isn’t the same as everybody’s. Her dad is a pop star. Her mom is a model, and certain things that she does in life might not always reflect what other people’s understanding of reality is.” FYI, Zayn and Gigi had an on-and-off relationship for nearly six years before they parted ways in 2021.

The singer is all set to release his fifth solo album, Konnakol, on April 17 via Mercury Records/Island Records UK, and it is available for pre-order. Die For Me, the album’s lead single, was released on February 6. Following the release, he will also kick off the Konnakol Tour on May 12 at the AO Arena in Manchester, England. This tour will see him headline arenas and stadiums across North America, South America, Mexico, and the United Kingdom, marking his first major tour since leaving One Direction in 2015.
