West Asia War: Iran has vowed strong retaliation against the United States after President Donald Trump threatened potential military action targeting Kharg Island, saying that if the enemy “hits one,”
they would “take several back” in response.
Iran Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref issued a stark warning, saying that Trump could decide to send troops, but “when it comes to bringing them back, the decision is no longer his,” adding that “no one returns home from hell.”
Iran’s parliamentary speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, also warned of strong retaliation, saying any attack would be met with multiple responses. In a post on X, he accused adversaries of spreading misinformation while threatening Iran, calling it a “big mistake.”
He further asserted that under the leadership of the supreme leader, the Iranian people would make the “enemy regret their aggression and would successfully reclaim their rights”.
“The enemy promotes its desires as news while threatening our nation at same time. Big Mistake. If they hit one, they’ll take several back. God willing, the people of Iran, under the leadership of the Supreme Leader, will make the enemy regret the aggression and reclaim their rights,” he said in a post on X.

These remarks came after Trump threatened to blow up Iran’s energy infrastructure, oil wells and the Kharg Island if a deal is not reached and if the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened. Trump has also suggested the US could “take” Iran’s oil facilities, claiming they are vulnerable.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said, “The United States of America is in serious discussions with A NEW, AND MORE REASONABLE, REGIME to end our Military Operations in Iran.”
“Great progress has been made but, if for any reason a deal is not shortly reached, which it probably will be, and if the Hormuz Strait is not immediately “Open for Business,” we will conclude our lovely “stay” in Iran by blowing up and completely obliterating all of their Electric Generating Plants, Oil Wells and Kharg Island (and possibly all desalinization plants!), which we have purposefully not yet “touched.” This will be in retribution for our many soldiers, and others, that Iran has butchered and killed over the old Regime’s 47 year “Reign of Terror’,” he added.
Trump earlier said the war against Iran has achieved regime change, while remaining hopeful about a possible ceasefire deal. The conflict in West Asia, triggered by the US-Israel airstrikes on Iran on February 28, has entered its fifth week. Iran has hit back hard by bombing US assets in Gulf countries.
Trump had earlier said he wants to “take the oil” in Iran and suggested that Washington could capture the country’s key export hub on Kharg Island. “I don’t think they have any defence. We could take it very easily,” he added.
According to US officials, more than 3,500 American troops have already been deployed in the region, including Marines aboard the USS Tripoli, as Washington considers further reinforcements.
Kharg Island, located in the Persian Gulf, is a critical hub for Iran’s oil exports, making it a strategic target in the conflict. Trump has said the US has so far avoided striking such facilities but warned that any disruption to shipping routes could change that stance.
