15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi opened the innings for India in the second T20I against Zimbabwe on Saturday (July 25) and batted with a strike rate of 222.22. The left-handed batter from Samastipur in Bihar,
smashed three fours and a six in his 20-run knock off just nine balls.

Vaibhav took on Richard Ngarava in the third over of India’s innings at the Harare Sports Club, hitting him for 4, 6, 4, and 4. However, while attempting another aerial shot off the final ball, he was caught by Blessing Muzarabani just outside the 30-yard circle.

Vaibhav was the second Indian batter to be dismissed on Saturday. Earlier, in the second over, Blessing Muzarabani removed Abhishek Sharma, who was caught by Ryan Burl after scoring 8 runs off 8 balls, including two fours.

In the first T20I, Abhishek had also faced eight balls but managed to score only one run, while Vaibhav starred with a blistering 50 off 19 balls. The teenage opener struck four fours and four sixes to help India chase down the target of 126 in just 13.2 overs with seven wickets in hand.
The half-century in the series opener made Sooryavanshi the youngest player in the world to score a fifty in men’s international cricket.
Yash Thakur makes India debut
Vidarbha fast bowler Yash Thakur is making his international debut for India in the second T20I against Zimbabwe. The 27-year-old has replaced Ashok Sharma in the playing XI.
Ashok had made his international debut in the first T20I but failed to take a wicket in his quota of four overs.
Before making his T20I debut, Thakur had played 74 T20 matches, claiming 110 wickets in 74 innings. He has also featured in 22 Indian Premier League (IPL) matches for Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings, taking 27 wickets.
The Vidarbha pacer has also played 32 first-class and 57 List A matches, claiming 93 and 90 wickets, respectively.
