Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-anticipated 2026 film ‘Love & War’ is moving into a new phase of shooting in Madhya Pradesh. The period drama stars Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, a real-life couple, along
with Vicky Kaushal. After filming in Mumbai, the team is set to shoot for about 15 days in Mhow, a town rich in military history that perfectly suits the film’s pre-independence era setting.
Mhow, also called Dr Ambedkar Nagar, is located near Indore and was founded in 1818. Known for its British army base, the town was once the Military Headquarters of Warfare and still hosts important Indian Army training centres. This historic location offers authentic artillery and military backdrops that match the film’s period look. A source said, “The team will be shooting for close to 15 days here, with major portions requiring Vicky Kaushal and Ranbir Kapoor. As of now, they are on standby waiting for the permissions.”
After completing the Madhya Pradesh schedule, the ‘Love & War’ crew plans to shoot in Italy in October. Though the film has reportedly faced some delays, the makers aim to finish filming by the end of 2025.
Meanwhile, reports earlier this week had claimed that the film might not meet its March 2026 deadline. A source had told The Hollywood Reporter India, “After the sequence is filmed, which promises to be of an epic scale involving Vicky and Ranbir, the team aims to wrap up by January 2026. It will be impossible for Love & War to finish post-production and come on the big screen two months later in March. So the film might get pushed.” However, other sources close to the production have denied these claims, suggesting the film is progressing as planned.
Love & War tells a passionate love story set against a fictional war, exploring deep friendships, complex relationships, and sacrifices made for love. Fans are eagerly waiting to see how this grand tale unfolds on screen.
The film was officially announced in January 2024 via a signature poster featuring the lead trio—Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, and Vicky Kaushal. The film marks Alia’s second collaboration with Bhansali after the critically acclaimed Gangubai Kathiawadi and Ranbir’s reunion with the director after his 2007 debut Saawariya. Details of the plot are still under wraps, but anticipation around the film continues to grow with every update.
