Rashmika Mandanna’s recently released romantic drama, The Girlfriend, has won hearts as the audience loved her performance. And now, as the film is all set to debut on OTT, she has shared a warm message
for her fans. The actress took to social media to express gratitude for the overwhelming love the movie received during its theatrical run and urged viewers to continue supporting it on OTT.
Taking to her Instagram stories, Rashmika Mandanna shared the poster of the film and wrote, “I hope you will continue to give the film the same love. Now you can watch it from anywhere. If you haven’t watched it yet, please do watch it and tell me how you feel about it.” On November 30, Netflix India shared the poster for The Girlfriend on its Instagram account, revealing that the film will drop on the platform on December 5. The caption of the post reads: “Meet Bhooma Devi, The Girlfriend MA Literature :). Watch The Girlfriend on Netflix from 5 December in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.”

The Girlfriend: overall footfall
The Girlfriend recorded an overall Telugu occupancy of 19.16%, with 14.61% in the morning shows, 22.55% in the afternoon, and 18.49% in the evening. At the Hindi box office, the film faced competition from Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi’s Haq. After the film’s release, Rashmika Mandanna shared a note explaining why this project was so special to her. She wrote, “This film is for every unspoken moment – for the love that liberates, not limits; for the hearts that heal while learning to choose themselves; and for the courage it takes to begin again, as your truest self. I’ve poured my heart, my sensibilities, and every vulnerability into this The Girlfriend journey, for you to feel seen, understood, and reminded of your own strength.”
The Girlfriend: plot and cast
Written and directed by Rahul Ravindran, The Girlfriend follows postgraduate student Bhooma Devi (Rashmika Mandanna), who is deceived into falling in love with Vikram (Dheekshith), a college student. She soon finds herself trapped in a toxic relationship she cannot escape. The film, produced by Dheeraj Mogilneni and Vidya Koppineni, also features Anu Emmanuel and Rao Ramesh in pivotal roles.
On the work front, beyond The Girlfriend, Rashmika has already announced her next project, Mysaa. The striking first-look poster presents her in a fierce and intense avatar, hinting at a powerful new role.
