The much-awaited spy thriller Patriot, starring Malayalam superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal, is finally gearing up for its digital premiere. After generating significant buzz among fans and movie lovers,
the film is now set to make its OTT debut, giving audiences a chance to experience the high-octane thriller from the comfort of their homes.
Taking to their Instagram handle, Zee5 announced, “The much-awaited Malayalam spy political thriller Patriot. Starring the legendary Big M’s in an intense battle of power, politics & secrets. Premieres June 5th on Malayalam zee5.” One of the fans wrote, “Patriot had the scale, visuals and ambition But memorable cinema needs more than grand making — it needs intensity, emotional depth and strong character arcs.” Another wrote, “Sarvam Maya Vaazha 2 oke hit aakit oru Class padam pottich koduth”

Recently, Mammootty encouraged audiences to watch the movie and form their own opinions. The veteran actor stressed that Patriot was made with the intention of entertaining a wide audience.
During a promotional event in Dubai, Mammootty said, “We are living in an era where privacy is increasingly lost, and the film Patriot addresses this relevant subject,” Mathrubhumi quoted him as saying. There will be different views — good, bad, partly good, mostly good. Everyone is free to express their opinion as they feel. Some of you may have heard such opinions before coming here. Whatever it is, you will form your own view, and that is what matters. Films are made with the intention of being enjoyed by all.”
What Makes Patriot Special?
The film marks Mohanlal and Mammootty’s reunion. The last time the two megastars appeared together in a full-length film was Twenty 20 (2008). Mohanlal later made a cameo in Mammootty’s Kadal Kadannu Oru Maathukutty (2013), but Patriot marks their full-fledged reunion after more than a decade.
While the reunion of the two legends is the biggest highlight, Patriot goes several notches higher with its ensemble. The film also features Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara and Revathy in key roles.
Directed by Mahesh Narayanan, known for acclaimed films like Take Off, C U Soon and Malik, Patriot appears to lean into a realistic and tightly woven spy thriller space. The visuals suggest a multi-layered story set across locations, driven by tension and political undertones.
