Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday embarked on a visit to Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic, noting how the bilateral relations between India and Uzbekistan have enhanced in recent years.

said he would travel to Tashkent on August 29 and 30, before reaching Bishkek to participate in the 26th SCO Summit, marking 25 years of this important organisation.
In an official statement posted on X, PM Modi said: “I am embarking on a visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic from 29 August-1 September 2026. At the invitation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, I will visit Tashkent on 29-30 August for a State Visit. In recent years, the India-Uzbekistan Strategic Partnership has seen significant advancement.”
The Prime Minister said his discussions with Uzbekistan President Mirziyoyev would cover diverse areas, including trade and investment, digital connectivity, defence, energy, and others.
Over the next few days, will be in Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic.

“I look forward to my discussions with President Mirziyoyev on further deepening our cooperation in trade and investment, digital connectivity, defence, energy, and on advancing our shared visions of Viksit Bharat and Yangi Uzbekistan. I will also visit the Shastri Memorial and the Mahatma Gandhi Centre at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, a tribute to the close cultural and people-to-people ties that bind our two countries”, the statement read.
PM Modi To Participate In 26th SCO Summit
After concluding visit to Uzbekistan, PM Modi will travel to the Kyrgyz to participate in the 26th SCO Summit.
“From Tashkent, at the invitation of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Zhaparov, I will travel to Bishkek to participate in the 26th SCO Summit, marking 25 years of this important organisation. India has been an active and constructive member of the SCO since 2017”, the statement read.
Reiterating India’s position on terrorism, the Prime Minister said: “I look forward to advancing India’s vision for the region, anchored in Security, Connectivity and Opportunity, and to working with fellow members for a region free from the scourge of terrorism, separatism and extremism, which continue to threaten peace and stability in our neighbourhood and beyond.”
Putin, Jinping Likely To Attend
The SCO Summit will see the presence of leaders of the 10-member grouping, including India, China Russia, Pakistan, Iran, four Central Asian countries and Belarus. Among the leaders expected to attend the summit are Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
