Sunny Deol’s much-awaited film Border 2 has finally hit the theatres. Directed by Anurag Singh, the film marks the sequel to J.P. Dutta’s 1997 film Border. Alongside the lead actors, the film also features
Ali Mughal in a pivotal role.
In the film, he played the role of a Pakistani officer and shared details about his 3-minute-long fight with Varun Dhawan.
Ali Mughal on Border 2 Fight Scene
During an interview with Zoom, Ali revealed that the fight sequence with Varun Dhawan was ‘intense’ and ‘difficult’. “It was almost a 3-minute fight sequence. I rehearsed that a lot. I rehearsed a lot with the fight guys. I remember when we were shooting in Babina; I had gone 2 or 4 days earlier. And for 2-3 days, I was just practising, because it’s a long sequence. So, it was a 3-minute choreography. I had to remember everything for 3 months,” he shared.
Although Ali had previously done action scenes, he admitted it was the longest action sequence. “The biggest challenge in this was not to hurt each other. You are not fighting actually. But it’s like, you are pretty intense in that particular moment. And the hardest part was when we were practising, we were doing it on the mattress.”
He continued, “And when we were actually shooting, we were doing it on a hard and rocky surface inside the trenches, in the dust and mud. It was not like you could fall anywhere in the open ground, so you had a very limited, small part of the ground.” The trenches, where the fight sequence was shot, were generally narrow, and one can only walk there.
