A man sustained serious injuries after his bicycle was hit by a speeding car being driven in the wrong lane in the Tilkamanjhi area of Bihar’s Bhagalpur on Sunday. The horrific incident was reported near
Kachahri Chowk under the Tilkamanjhi police station limits and was captured on CCTV footage. The video has since surfaced on social media, showing the collision.
The footage shows a speeding WagonR car being driven on the wrong side of the road when it collided head-on with the cyclist. The visuals clearly show the cyclist riding on the correct side, while the car approached from the opposite direction. Fortunately, an e-rickshaw moving parallel to the cyclist escaped the crash, but the cyclist was unable to avoid the oncoming vehicle.
Eyewitnesses said the impact was severe, badly damaging the car and throwing the cyclist onto the ground. It is learnt that the injured man was rushed to a hospital by the car driver.
Locals claimed that the vehicle was being driven by a doctor at the time of the accident.
A large crowd gathered at the scene soon after the collision, causing traffic disruption on the busy stretch. Despite the accident taking place on one of the city’s busiest roads and the police lines being located nearby, residents alleged that police did not arrive at the spot even an hour after the incident.
Recalling the horrific crash, eyewitness Ranjit Mandal said, “The car came from the wrong side at very high speed and hit the cyclist. It was shocking to see it happen right in front of us.”
The crash has reignited concerns over reckless driving and the lack of immediate police response. Locals have demanded strict action against drivers violating traffic rules and stronger enforcement to prevent such accidents in the future. So far, no arrests have been made, and there was no official statement from the police at the time of filing this report.
