Paying rent in Mumbai is often a shock for people living outside the city. But for many residents, the experience of living in certain neighbourhoods makes the high price feel worth it.
One woman recently
gave social media users a tour of her rented apartment in Bandra. She also shared why she feels deeply attached to the space despite paying a hefty amount every month.
She Shares Her Bandra Apartment Tour
The video was posted on Instagram by Arya Kothari, who stopped the woman for a quick conversation about rent in the city. During the interaction, he asked her how much she pays for her home. “Around 80 to 90k,” she replied.
When asked about the apartment, the woman said it was an 800 sq ft 2BHK located in Bandra. She then invited the interviewer inside and showed different corners of the house.
“Welcome to my house. View of this little Bandra apartment. Love this couch because this is the first thing I throw myself on after I come back from office. Fridge magnets from all the places that I have travelled to. Works as a really good bar,” she said while showing her living room.
The apartment was filled with travel souvenirs, postcards and personal items that reflected her memories and experiences.
Her Room Has A Personal Touch
The woman shared that she lives in the apartment with one roommate and pays a larger share of the rent because she has the bigger bedroom. “I have the bigger room. I pay obviously more,” she said after the interviewer guessed the split was “60/40.”
Showing her room, she added, “This is my room. I am a huge BTS fan. I love collecting postcards from every place that I go to. Sunset time. There’s sunlight around the house. My cute little bathroom. This is as Bandra as it gets.” She also revealed that she works as a corporate lawyer at Khaitan.
Talking about her favourite part of the home, she pointed at a few keepsakes and said, “Everything that you see in this apartment are like small souvenirs. Like this is from Spain. Made friends with these Spanish expats. And this is the last bottle of wine that we had before they left.”
She Recalls Finding The House Quickly
The woman also explained how she ended up moving into the apartment after suddenly having to leave her previous place.
“So I used to share a room with my sister. Somebody complained that there were more people living in the house. So we got evicted. We had like 7 days to find a house. We moved in in like 3 days,” she said.
When asked whether the apartment was worth the high rent, she replied, “I think it’s priceless because it’s made out of love.”
