Pan-India star Prabhas made his much-awaited big-screen comeback with the fantasy horror-comedy, The Raja Saab. Released in theatres on January 9, the film garnered positive-to-mixed reviews from critics
and moviegoers. Now, the fantasy horror-comedy entertainer has wrapped its entire theatrical run. While it did not emerge as one of Prabhas’ biggest earners, the film saw decent footfall after the mixed word-of-mouth from movie buffs.
As per sacnilk, the Prabhas starrer has completed its theatrical run, earning not more than Rs 23 crore net at the Hindi box office. The film grossed Rs 21.8 crore in its opening week. Following this, it recorded a sharp decline of roughly 90 percent in its second week, adding just Rs 2.01 crore at the box office, bringing the total two-week cume to Rs 23.81 crore net in Hindi.
The Raja Saab, on the other hand, has collected over Rs 115.98 crore in Telugu and Rs 1.09 crore in Tamil. Kannada and Malayalam releases didn’t add much to its collections, earning just Rs 39 lakh and 23 lakh respectively.
The Raja Saab’s Cast And Storyline
Made under the direction of Maruthi, the film brings together an ensemble cast of talented actors, Prabhas, Sanjay Dutt, Zarina Wahab, Boman Irani, Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal and Riddhi Kumar.
The Raja Saab, bankrolled under the banners of People Media Factory and IVY Entertainment, follows the story of a man living with his grandmother, Ganga Devi, in a secluded village in Andhra Pradesh. Suffering from Alzheimer’s, she longs to reunite with her husband Kanakaraja (played by Sanjay Dutt), firmly believing that he is away on a mission.
When Raja Saab comes across a man who resembles his grandfather, he sets out on a journey to reunite the elderly couple. But this slowly brings out hidden family secrets to light, leading to a mix of emotional moments and supernatural twists.
The Raja Saab’s Sequel Confirmed
Soon after the first-day shows, fans noticed clear hints pointing towards a sequel. Director Maruthi later revealed that The Raja Saab Circus 1935 is indeed the next chapter, which will feature a new narrative and expand the horror universe. As the first film received mixed responses, the makers will keep note of audience reactions before finalising details for the next installment.
