Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar, which enjoyed a successful theatrical run, is now streaming on Netflix. However, the excitement was short-lived for many viewers. Fans alleged that despite receiving an ‘A’
certificate, Dhurandhar was heavily censored for its OTT release. Fans accused the streaming platform of muting dialogues, censoring foul language, and trimming nearly 10 minutes from the original cut.
As per a report by Pinkvilla, Aditya Dhar and the makers of Dhurandhar had submitted an uncensored version of the film to Netflix. A source told the portal, “Dhurandhar makers submitted a version with no edits or cuts for its Netflix release. The version delivered to the streaming platform fully complies with Netflix’s mandates and requirements.”
“The production team has gone as per the mandate and requirement of Netflix,” added the source. Many fans expressed disappointment, stating that they had expected an uncensored version post its theatrical run, while others questioned the rationale behind such restrictions.
The runtime of the film on the streaming platform is nearly 3 hours and 25 minutes, almost nine minutes shorter than the original duration of 3 hours 34 minutes. Some reports suggest that this is because the version on Netflix is not the original film, but the second version, which ran in theatres from January 1 onwards.
For the unversed, as per Bollywood Hungama’s earlier report, film distributors received an email on December 31, 2025, about the film’s new Digital Cinema Package (DCP). The publication quoted a source as saying, “The reason for the change is that the makers have muted two words and changed a dialogue in the film, as per the directives received from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of India.”
The report claimed that the new version would be available in theatres from January 1, 2026. The source also mentioned, “One of the words removed from the new version of Dhurandhar is ‘Baloch’.” The run time of this revised version is 3 hours, 28 minutes and 56 seconds.
Meanwhile, some fans are also complaining about the colour grading and quality of the Netflix version. Aditya Dhar and the makers of Dhurandhar are yet to address these complaints.
