What started as a fun train ride in Sydney, Australia, with some youngsters playing songs and grooving to desi beats, quickly turned into a major debate online. A video shared on Instagram, captioned “Just
tryna get home from work and this happens on your carriage,” showed the group vibing to the 2008 hit song Bewafa by Pakistani artist Imran Khan.
In the clip, a bunch of young people had brought a portable speaker and a DJ mixer onto the train. They were playing some desi hits with people grooving to them. Some passengers recorded the lively moment, while others were seen thoroughly enjoying it. And once the music shifted from a sad, emotional song to a Punjabi one, a few even started shaking their legs. The video was shared with the caption, “Out of all stakes in society, this is the stake they choose?”

Internet Is Divided Over The Viral Video
As soon as the video hit social media, it sparked mixed reactions. Many people totally loved the vibe of the train ride, with one saying, “Why doesn’t this ever happen to me? I would be so down to dance with them.”
Another added, “I would love to have this on my commute. It’s better than the stabbings; these guys are not harming anyone, just great music and lots of fun. Some haters have to moan about anything. Keep it up, guys.”
Meanwhile, others were critical of it and called it an “inappropriate behaviour” in public. A viewer said, “Now many reasons why Western countries do not support migration, specifically from Asian countries.”
“No one should be doing this s**t on the train! It’s disrespectful towards people who just want peace and quiet on their way home from work!” mentioned a different person.
Someone else noted, “No wonder we are made fun of and looked down upon by other nationalities. If we don’t respect and adapt to the culture and laws of the host countries. Discrimination & Racism towards Indians will only skyrocket.”
“Zero civic sense. There are clubs to do this, but these people are so deep into asking for validation and attention from people, they gotta do it in public. Sure, they won’t do these in India,” another individual commented.
The Person Who Originally Shared The Clip Reacted To The Backlash
The person who posted the clip on his Instagram account reacted to the immense backlash in the comments. He said, “For context, this is after a big concert, @diljitdosanjh 30,000 people and the time was 11 pm the train was filled 95% with people from the concert, it was a fun way to wind down on the way home, it was a Sunday night so having a extra party after the concert before midnight was good energy before going home.”
He continued, “It was all good energy, no one was bothered or complained. There was 1 passenger with a bike that may have been inconvenienced, but like we said, 1 out of 100. Sorry to that fella, it was only 1 night, peace and love and positivity to everyone watching this video event to the haters and the racists.”
