Hard work and consistency can truly change lives and software engineer Archy Gupta’s journey is inspiring proof of that. A graduate from a Tier-3 college in Bhopal, Gupta recently went viral after sharing
her story of securing a job at Google, motivating thousands of aspirants across the country. Taking to social media, Archy Gupta, now a software engineer at Google, emphasised that skills and determination matter more than a college’s name and reputation.
In a series of posts, she shared photos marking key milestones of her career, from her first internship to finally receiving her Google offer. Along the way, she candidly spoke about rejections, failures and lessons learned.
From Studying At A Tier 3 College To Securing A Job At The Tech Giant
Gupta shared her journey began in 2017 when she graduated from a Tier-3 college where only a few service-based companies visited for placements. Despite limited opportunities, she believed something bigger was possible. She travelled across cities for interviews with “nothing but hope” and eventually secured a job at a service-based company by November of her final year.
“Deep down, I knew this was just the beginning,” she wrote. Gupta then focused on strengthening her fundamentals, learning problem-solving, databases and core computer science concepts. Soon after, she received a referral for a product-based company internship at OpenText. She travelled to Hyderabad, cleared the interviews and moved cities within just 10 days.
While interning at OpenText, Gupta continued appearing for assessments and interviews, hoping to convert the role into a full-time position. After months of uncertainty and multiple rejections, she finally received a full-time offer just 15 days before joining the service-based company. “That one interview chance changed everything,” she shared.
How Archy Gupta Got Selected At Google
Her journey didn’t stop there. Gupta briefly explored data science and completed a machine learning Nano degree, but eventually realised her passion lay in software engineering. In 2019, she received her first interview call from Google but failed to crack it. “It gave me the push I needed,” she said.
In 2020, she joined ServiceNow and made it a habit to solve one data structures and algorithms (DSA) problem every day. Her persistence paid off in June 2022 when Google reached out again. After months of preparation and interviews stretching till October, she finally received the email she had been waiting for: “Congratulations, you’re in.”
