Dhurandhar have proved that the runtime of a film doesn’t decide its fate. Now, joining this elite list is Border 2. As per an update, it has been said that the Varun Dhawan, Sunny Deol,Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Panday-starrer will exceed the runtime of 3 hours.
A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Border 2 is around 200 minutes long. In other words, its duration is around 3 hours and 20 minutes. The exact runtime might change by a few minutes after the final touches are given. It will be locked in a few days and will be known once the film secures a censor certificate.”
“The makers feel that it was necessary for the film to have such a lengthy runtime as they want viewers to get a proper idea of the war being depicted in the film. Moreover, there are four major actors (Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty) and their tracks; justice needs to be done to them. This is the reason for its runtime. At the same time, the makers have ensured that the film has enough dramatic, massy, and patriotic moments to keep the viewers gripped and also compel them to break into claps or whistles,” the source told Bollywood Hungama.
Border 2: Plot and Cast
Directed by Anurag Singh, the film boasts a strong ensemble cast including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Mona Singh, Medha Rana, Sonam Bajwa, and Anya Singh. Border 2 is presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series, in collaboration with J.P. Dutta’s J.P. Films. Backed by a powerful production team featuring Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, the film promises to be a grand epic of patriotism and heroism, hitting theatres on January 23, 2026.
Nidhi Dutta Reacts to Border 2 vs Border Comparisons
On Sunday, Nidhi Dutta reacted to an Instagram post that read, “Will Border 2 be able to break the record of Border 1? Yes or No?” She shut down the comparisons, stating that the original film remains a timeless masterpiece created by her father, J.P. Dutta. “The idea was NEVER TO BREAK THE RECORD OF BORDER! Nobody ever can! My father created a masterpiece! BUT HE MADE THAT FILM TO TELL STORIES OF OUR SOLDIERS, AND BORDER 2 DOES THE SAME! THAT’S what’s important! Telling our soldiers’ stories!” she wrote.
