When Rahul Mishra calls, a fashion moment is almost guaranteed. At a recent Mercedes-Benz launch event, Kiara Advani and Karan Johar took centre stage as the designer’s showstoppers, commanding attention
in statement black ensembles that blended couture craftsmanship with contemporary glamour.
Kiara Advani’s Gown Was a Work of Art
Kiara Advani embraced dramatic elegance in a sculptural black creation from Rahul Mishra. The off-the-shoulder silhouette featured a structured corset bodice that seamlessly flowed into a voluminous skirt, creating a striking contrast between sharp tailoring and fluid movement.
What truly set the ensemble apart, however, was its artistic detailing. The gown was adorned with hand-painted motifs inspired by nature, featuring vibrant florals and references to Vincent van Gogh’s iconic The Starry Night. The result was a look that felt less like eveningwear and more like wearable art.
The exaggerated embellished waistline further accentuated the silhouette, while the sweeping train added a touch of old-world glamour. Styled by Lakshmi Lehr and Kashish Gaur, Kiara completed the look with diamond jewellery, including statement earrings, cocktail rings and sparkling bracelets. Soft waves, smoky eyes and a nude lip complemented the drama of the outfit without competing for attention.
Karan Johar’s Take on Modern Menswear
Walking alongside Kiara, Karan Johar offered his own interpretation of contemporary couture. The filmmaker opted for an all-black ensemble centred around a sharply tailored blazer embellished with shimmering sequins arranged in wave-like patterns.
The intricate detailing evoked the movement of the sea, while a starfish-inspired brooch added a whimsical touch to the otherwise monochromatic look. He paired the blazer with a structured black shirt and tapered trousers, proving once again that classic tailoring can make just as much of a statement as elaborate couture.
A diamond choker, polished boots and vintage-inspired sunglasses completed the ensemble, reinforcing Karan’s reputation as one of Bollywood’s most fashion-forward personalities.
