Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi’s upcoming film Wuthering Heights has been drawing steady attention ever since its teaser and trailer dropped. Adapted from Emily Bronte’s 1847 literary classic, the film promises
a bold and emotionally charged retelling of the famous novel. Much of the early buzz has centred on the intense chemistry between the lead actors and the film’s raw portrayal of love, obsession, and longing, which marks a departure from more traditional period adaptations.
The project is directed by Emerald Fennell, who has already made it clear that this version does not shy away from the darker, more raunchy elements of the story. Both Fennell and Robbie have spoken openly in recent interviews about the film’s unapologetic tone, confirming that the narrative includes several steamy moments alongside its central romantic arc.
Margot Robbie On How She Prepped For Steamy Scenes
Speaking to PEOPLE on the red carpet at the film’s Los Angeles premiere on January 28, Margot Robbie opened up about preparing for the steamy scenes in the film. She explained that filming intimate scenes did not require special preparation beyond what was needed for the rest of the movie. “No different to all the other scenes that we do. The movie kind of demands a lot of all of us,” she said.
Robbie also shared that her character goes through extreme emotional swings throughout the story. “My character essentially cries in every single scene, but no, it was a joy. I loved playing a character who kind of swings from one wild emotion to the other in an instant.”
Margot Robbie Confirms Wuthering Heights To Have ‘A Lot Of Steamy Scenes’
In December 2025, Margot Robbie sat down for an interview with British Vogue and opened up about the bold scenes in Wuthering Heights. At the time, she said, “Everyone’s expecting this to be very, very raunchy. I think people will be surprised. Not to say there aren’t sexual elements and that it’s not provocative — it definitely is provocative — but it’s more romantic than provocative.”
During the recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, Margot shared how her friends reacted to her steamy scenes with Jacob Elordi. She kept a private screening for her girlfriends, she said, “It ended up being the craziest night ever, but the screening itself … 20 women were like frothing at the mouth. They were like rabid dogs and they were a couple of drinks in already, and then the movie started and they were screaming so much.”
“Everyone’s wearing lace, corsets and veils, and drunk and screaming at the screen. And when Jacob came on screen, I think it registered on the Richter scale; they screamed so loud. Honestly, I was like, if he walked in right now, I think they would eat him. So it was safer that he wasn’t there.” Wuthering Heights will be releasing in theatres on February 13 conciding with Valentine’s Day.
