Food safety concerns are once again being discussed online after a man claimed he found a large amount of yellow colouring on packaged roasted chana ordered through a quick delivery app.
The clip shows
the man washing the roasted gram in water as yellow colour appears to spread across his hands and the bowl, leaving many social media users shocked and concerned.
Man Claims Product Had Artificial Colour
In the video, the man says he had ordered roasted gram from the brand ‘Kul Farm’ through Blinkit. While checking the product, he claimed he noticed an unusual amount of colour coming off the chana after washing it.
“I ordered roasted gram from the brand ‘Kul Farm’ via Blinkit and look at the sheer amount of colouring in it!” he says in the clip. He further claimed, “I examined it multiple times, and it is absolutely loaded with artificial colour; this hue certainly didn’t come from turmeric.”
The man also questioned the ingredient list mentioned on the packet. According to him, the packaging only listed “gram” as the ingredient even though he believed artificial colouring had been added.
He also pointed out that the product carried a 4.5-star rating based on thousands of customer reviews. “Furthermore, the ingredients list simply states ‘gram,’ yet the product holds a rating of 4.5 stars, based on reviews from thirty-three thousand people!” he said.
The man later added that he had returned the item and posted a review with pictures attached. “To anyone who consumes roasted gram on a daily basis: please be extremely vigilant, as these products are often heavily adulterated with artificial colouring,” he warned.
Social Media Users Discuss Food Adulteration Concerns
The caption shared along with the video read, “Please try to implement a proper quality-check process before listing products on your platform. Otherwise, consumers will lose trust in these platforms.”
As the clip spread online, several users shared their own experiences and concerns regarding packaged food products.
A user commented, “The roasted chana I buy from local kirana store is way better. Never had colour issue.”
Another wrote, “Kewal tata brand sahi h.”
A person questioned the refund process and commented, “Refund mila ya nahi? Mera to refund bhi nahi karte.”
Some users also claimed that colouring in food products may be more common than people realise. “Even store bought daal contains food colouring I believe. Musoori specially,” a comment read.
Another user asked, “Yr blinkit pr return kaise krte hai.” Someone else wrote, “God!!!! Thanks for sharing. They never show the reviews comments. I’ll never buy this brand now.”
