Bihar Cabinet Expansion: Former Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s son Nishant Kumar, BJP leader Vijay Kumar Sinha and 29 other lawmakers were sworn in as ministers in Samrat Choudhary-led Bihar government
on Thursday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP chief Nitin Nabin and several other dignitaries were present in Patna’s Gandhi Maidan and attended the first cabinet expansion of the BJP-led NDA government in the state.
The expanded cabinet also included representatives of Union Minister Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) and Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi-led Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular).
This cabinet expansion is crucial Nishant Kumar also joined the Bihar government. He formally entered politics and joined the Janata Dal (United) following his father’s resignation from the Bihar assembly.
JD(U) leaders and workers had been keen to see Nishant in the government. However, he had initially declined any official role, preferring to work at the organisational level before accepting a ministerial responsibility.

The cabinet expansion came after BJP’s Samrat Choudhary assumed the charge of chief minister on April 15 after Nitish Kumar quit the post and joined the Rajya Sabha.
Along with Choudhary, JD(U)’s Vijay Kumar Choudhary and Bijendra Prasad Yadav had taken oath as members of the Council of Ministers.
