Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday extended birthday greetings to President Droupadi Murmu, lauding her inspiring journey and unwavering dedication to public service.
President Murmu, the country’s
first tribal woman to hold the highest constitutional office, turned 68 on Saturday.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister described Murmu’s life and career as a source of inspiration for millions across the country.
“Warm birthday greetings to the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu Ji. Her journey, marked by courage, simplicity, humility and unwavering commitment to public service, continues to inspire people across the country,” Modi said.

The Prime Minister highlighted Murmu’s long years in public life, saying she has served the nation with distinction and remained deeply committed to the welfare of the poor, underprivileged and marginalised sections of society.
Modi also praised the President’s dedication to India’s development, calling it a motivating force for many.
“May she be blessed with a long and healthy life in the service of the nation,” he said, adding that he looked forward to meeting her later in the day at a programme in Odisha.
Vice President C P Radhakrishnan also wished President Murmu and said she consistently championed the cause of the underprivileged and devoted herself to the service of the nation. “Her remarkable commitment to inclusive growth and social welfare continues to motivate people across the country,” Radhakrishnan said.
Murmu assumed office as the 15th President of India in July 2022, becoming the first tribal woman and the youngest person to occupy the post. Before becoming President, she served as the Governor of Jharkhand and held several public offices in Odisha.
