“Why always a Thar?” – This is a question many social media users have been asking lately as videos of reckless driving continue to surface online. The Mahindra Thar is known for its strong build and off-road
performance but on social media, it is now often linked to clips that show drivers breaking traffic rules on busy city roads.
Each new video brings back the same discussion online, whether the issue is with the vehicle itself or with the way some people choose to drive it in city traffic. And adding fuel to this debate, a new clip from Delhi has surfaced online that shows a Mahindra Thar driver openly flouting traffic rules.
Thar Driver Uses The Footpath To Get Ahead In Traffic
The footage shows Thar stuck in heavy traffic. Instead of waiting for the vehicles ahead to move, the driver takes the SUV onto a pedestrian footpath to overtake the line of cars. The clip clearly shows the vehicle moving through a space meant for pedestrians.
The video was shared on X (formerly Twitter) with a caption that read, “Big car, small brain. There should be a cure for such lowlifes.”

Another Thar, Another Internet Meltdown
With the Thar once again at the centre of a traffic violation clip, the reactions were bound to pour in from all corners.
One user commented, “There must be an IQ test along with a driving test for the likes of Fortuner, Thar, Scorpio, etc.”
Another said, “Why always Mahindra cars, especially Thar? It’s still a riddle to me!”
“Please check and punish this dangerous driver. He’s driving on the footpath & endangering the lives of other motorists,” someone else demanded.
“I think the Mahindra Logo has an inbuilt chip which controls the brain of the driver,” a person jokingly wrote.
“Is it all the Mahindra vehicle owners are above the law, senseless and mindless?” an individual questioned.
“The new chicken egg question. Does Thar makes people do such stupid things or stupid people buy Thar and do such nonsense?” a viewer remarked.
“Belt treatment is the need of the hour for such drivers,” “Only cure is permanent license suspension,” “ReTHARded,” “Mahindra customers … braindead as always” and “That M on the steering wheel tells everything!” were some other comments.
As of now, there has been no information on whether the driver faced any action over the incident.
