A simple moment on a flight has caught people’s attention after a father chose to speak to fellow passengers before takeoff. His polite approach and honesty about travelling with a toddler have led to mixed
reactions online.
The short clip shows how he tried to make others feel comfortable during the journey. Many viewers appreciated the gesture, while others felt the announcement was unnecessary.
Father Politely Addresses Passengers Before Takeoff
In the video, the father stands up and speaks to passengers sitting nearby. He says, “Excuse me, all the passengers in this area. We are travelling with our toddler, so she might get cranky during these five hours.”
He also mentions that even though his child has travelled before, there can still be moments when she becomes restless.
He explains that it may be hard for people without kids to understand why toddlers cry or get uneasy during flights. Because of this, he requests everyone to be patient if the child gets uncomfortable.
He adds, “Please bear a bit. I am sure there are no kids around, so it is really difficult for those who don’t have kids to understand that, without reason, she can get cranky.”
Social Media Users Share Mixed Reactions To The Gesture
The video was posted on Instagram with a caption explaining the father’s mindset. It read, “As a parent, I have completely transformed my personality. I believe in communication. I believe in speaking with all the people who may get disturbed because of my toddler. I believe in apologising in advance to the people around me, so you should follow the same.”

After being shared on March 15, the clip crossed over one million views and received many comments. Some people praised the father for being thoughtful.
A user wrote, “That’s really good to see. Many parents don’t even acknowledge themselves.” Another commented, “100 civic sense,” appreciating his effort.
At the same time, a few users felt differently. A person said, “As a mother of a toddler, this was unnecessary. You do you, kids yell, cry, no need to give an explanation to anyone.” Another added, “Why do you think someone needs to bear the crankiness of your toddler? The entitlement is wild.”
There were also people who supported him strongly. A comment read, “I don’t think he needs to compensate other adults. It’s a public space. That baby is also a part of society. Comments are wild and uncalled for. You did a good job, Dad.”
