Diljit Dosanjh Starrer Satluj Removed From ZEE5 In India
The film, directed by Honey Trehan, was released on ZEE5 without any cuts on July 3. Now, two days after the film’s premiere, it has been taken down from the OTT platform in India. Sharing the update on Instagram, ZEE5 thanked audiences for the overwhelming response the film had received since its release. “The response to Satluj since its release has been overwhelming. We are deeply grateful to every viewer who chose to subscribe, watch and champion the film. Your love and support have meant a great deal to us and to everyone who brought this story to life,” the statement read.
The platform reiterated its support for the film and its makers, saying it stands firmly by Satluj and the creative vision behind it. It also stressed its commitment to backing authentic and meaningful stories. However, ZEE5 revealed that, owing to “current developments”, Satluj would no longer be available for streaming in India until further notice. While the platform did not specify the reason behind the decision, it said it is exploring “every appropriate avenue through due process” to restore the film for viewers as soon as possible.
“At Zee5, we stand firmly by Satluj and the creative vision behind it. We believe powerful storytelling has the ability to inspire, endure and leave a lasting impact. We remain committed to championing authentic and meaningful narratives. In light of the current developments, Satluj will be unavailable in India until further notice. We remain committed to exploring every appropriate avenue through due process to bring the film back to our audiences at the earliest opportunity. Our commitment to creators and to stories told with conviction, artistic integrity and purpose remains unwavering,” read the statement.
In a separate caption accompanying the post, the streamer wrote, “Satluj may have paused. But the conversation it started hasn’t. Thank you for the incredible love. We hope to bring it back soon.”
