Goa Club Fire Accident News Live Updates: At least 25 people were killed after a devastating fire ripped through the popular nightclub Birch by Romeo Lane late last night in Arpora, North Goa.
Initial reports
suggest that the victims include four tourists and 14 members of the club’s staff. The identity of 7 people is yet to be established.
According to Goa Police, the explosion occurred around 1 a.m. near the nightclub’s kitchen area. A gas cylinder is reported to have burst with great force, causing flames to engulf the building within seconds. Officials said the intensity of the blast left the staff with very little time to escape.
President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep grief over the Arpora nightclub fire, calling it a “deeply saddening” tragedy.
PM Modi said he had spoken to Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and assured full support. The Prime Minister announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the PMNRF for the families of each deceased and Rs 50,000 for those injured in the incident.
