Rohit Sharma entered his name in the history books on Sunday, April 12, by becoming the first cricketer to score 6000 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Mumbai Indians. Rohit needed six runs in the match
No. 20 of IPL 2026 between MI and RCB to complete 6000 IPL runs for the Mumbai-based franchise, and he hammered Jacob Duffy for a six on the fifth ball of the third over to achieve the objective.
Rohit was batting on 2 when he played a pull shot to score his first six of the match in the 241-run chase at Wankhede Stadium.
Rohit, who joined MI in the IPL 2011 mega auction, has 6002* runs to his name in 231 IPL matches played so far.
India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav is second on the list of batters with the most runs for MI in the IPL. Surya has scored 3776 runs in 116 matches and is followed by Kieron Pollard. Pollard played 189 IPL matches for MI from 2010 to 2022 and scored 3412 runs.

Only one batter has managed to score more runs for one team in the IPL than Rohit, and that cricketer is none other than Virat Kohli. Kohli, who scored 50 runs from 38 balls for RCB against MI in the first half of the ongoing match at Wankhede Stadium, has amassed a total of 8840 runs in 271 IPL matches for the Bengaluru-based franchise.
Overall Kohli has scored 9264 runs in 286 T20 matches for RCB since joining them in 2008. Like Rohit, Kohli has also represented RCB in 15 Champions League T20 matches apart from 271 games in the IPL.
