Arguably India’s greatest-ever fast-bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, is celebrating his 10th anniversary in international cricket today. Bumrah, who made his debut in a T20I against Australia on January 23, 2016,
commemorated the day with a heartfelt post on social media.
He shared a video of some of his best moments on the cricket field, including his maiden wicket of Steve Smith, all the way to winning the 2024 men’s T20 World Cup with India as the Player of the Series. The clippings included him doing the victory parade in Barbados and then in Mumbai when the team came home.
He thanked God and his family for helping him go ‘against assumptions, opinions and perceptions’.
“10 years of living the dream of the child who fell in love with the sport that made him feel alive like nothing in this world ever could. The journey of going against assumptions, opinions and perceptions and keeping the belief alive continues, with the love and support of family and God. Waheguruji da shukr eda he baba ji mehraan bhariyaan hath rakheen. Satnam waheguru (By the grace of Waheguru, thanks be to Him. May Baba Ji keep His blessings upon us. Satnam Waheguru.)🙏🏾🙏🏾

Over his career, Bumrah has taken 234 Test wickets in 52 matches at an average of 19.79 and a strike rate of 42.87. In 89 ODIs, he has claimed 149 wickets at 23.55, and in 83 T20 Internationals, he has taken 103 wickets at an average of 18.17, making him one of the few bowlers with 100+ wickets in all three formats.
Bumrah’s best Test innings figures are 9/86, and he has multiple five-wicket hauls in Tests and ODIs. He has also reached the No. 1 spot in the ICC Test bowling rankings, a first for an Indian fast bowler. His consistency across formats underscores a decade of sustained impact at the highest level.
