New Year celebrations in major cities often bring joy, crowds, and late-night parties, and this year was no exception. Bengaluru and Gurugram saw thousands stepping out to ring in 2026. However, several
videos emerging from these cities have sparked widespread debate online.
The clips capture chaotic scenes of heavily intoxicated youths, drawing mixed reactions from viewers. While some defended personal freedom, others raised concerns about public behaviour and safety, triggering a sharp backlash on social media.
Videos From Bengaluru Spark Debate Over Public Conduct
Several clips circulating online are from Bengaluru’s bustling nightlife areas. One video shows police escorting a visibly unsteady woman through a crowded street. Her clothes appear dishevelled, and she struggles to walk unaided. Officers and bystanders assist her as onlookers watch and record the scene. This has deeply upset many viewers.
Imagine being so drunk that entire market has seen your cheeks and the guy with you has to pull down your dress to save some modesty you are left with. https://t.co/eaNKeEarsY

Another video from Bengaluru compiles multiple short clips showing groups of young women. Several appear heavily intoxicated, leaning on friends or strangers for support.
At times, bystanders try to shield them from the crowd or help adjust their clothing. These scenes have sparked concerns about safety, privacy, and public behaviour.
Fun Without Responsibility Is a Curse: Bengaluru Deserves Better Than Drunken Street Chaos
This is not the culture of Bengaluru. Do not ruin the image of Namma Bengaluru by turning our roads into places of chaos in the name of parties and New Year celebrations. Seeing youths… pic.twitter.com/OIS5XkgP0S

The Bengaluru clips, reportedly from areas like Koramangala, show packed streets and little space to move. Police presence is visible, but the crowd size makes things out of control. Many online users felt uncomfortable seeing such moments recorded and shared widely, while others blamed reckless partying.
Reacting to the video, a man said, “It’s common in Koramangala. Earlier, people were modest enough not to make such videos. But Gen Z seems to have to upload everything on the internet these days.”

Gurugram Videos Show Similar Scenes After Celebrations
Videos from Gurugram, especially from Sector 29, have also drawn significant attention. One clip shows people lying on the roadside, while others stand nearby watching. Another captures individuals wandering aimlessly on empty streets late at night, clearly intoxicated. The lack of coordination and visible exhaustion in these scenes caught the eye of many viewers.

Towards the end of the clips, two crowded scenes stand out: one from Gurugram’s Cyber Hub, bustling with people celebrating, and the other from a busy Bengaluru area, where crowds stretch as far as the eye can see. Reacting to these videos, a social media user said, “Ghabrahat hone lag gayi inhe dekhkar.” Another one said, “It is better to stay home and stay safe.”
Itni bheed me koi kaise NEW YEAR celebrate aur enjoy kar sakta hai koi samjhaa do…
More than 1 million people on the streets and Bengaluru police pulled the new year event without any tragedy.

Viral Clips Trigger Heated Debate On “Culture, Conduct And Privacy”
As the videos spread, viewers reacted strongly. A social media user wrote, “It is not about happiness. It’s more of a social pressure of being somewhere outside home.”
“Maa baap ka naam roshan krne may kya he dikkat hay. It’s her choice,” a person said.
“Empowered women, naari shakti. You guys won’t understand,” an individual commented.
A user wrote, “The more we celebrate these Western festivals, the more it’s going to uproot us from our culture.”
Another said, “This is not acceptable at all for Namma Bangalore. These irresponsible/errant youngsters must be taught decency in public life by taking appropriate Police/legal action along with compulsory hefty penalties to have a deterrent effect on the entire population.”
A comment read, “People drink as they’ve never seen daaru before.” Another added, “Every year drama in these cities.”
