Looks like the Dhurandhar wave is back and fans are clearly ready for round two. Even before hitting theatres, Ranveer Singh’s upcoming action thriller Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge has started strong at the box
office, with advance bookings for its special premieres already crossing ₹8 crore.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, the sequel is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on March 19, while paid premiere shows will take place a day earlier on March 18.
Advance ticket sales for Dhurandhar 2 opened soon after the film’s trailer was released. Within just 24 hours, the film recorded impressive ticket sales across online booking platforms.
On BookMyShow alone, the Ranveer Singh-starrer sold around 87,810 tickets in a single day. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh also reported that the film managed to sell approximately 7,500 tickets per hour soon after bookings began for the premiere shows.
While this pace is not among the fastest in recent times, early trade estimates suggest that ticket sales are expected to rise steadily as the release date approaches.
According to trade website Sacnilk, the film generated ₹4 crore in global advance ticket sales within two hours of bookings opening.
Multiplex chains including PVR, Inox and Cinepolis contributed significantly to this figure, accounting for ₹2.50 crore and nearly 35,000 tickets sold.
For the paid premiere screenings scheduled on March 18, Dhurandhar 2 has already earned ₹8.06 crore through advance bookings.
A large portion of this revenue has come from the Hindi version, which has brought in over ₹7 crore so far. The other language versions have also started registering early bookings:
Telugu version: Over ₹5 lakh
Tamil version: Around ₹4 lakh
Malayalam version: About ₹27,000
Kannada version: About ₹28,000
Interestingly, Tamil Nadu currently has the highest occupancy for premiere shows at around 22 percent.
Ticket pricing has also grabbed attention in some markets. A premium pricing tier called Super Blockbuster Plus has reportedly been introduced, with preview tickets in certain Delhi-NCR multiplexes priced as high as ₹2,500.
The surge in bookings came shortly after the release of the film’s second trailer on March 7 at 11:01 am. The new footage offers a closer look at the next chapter of the story.
In the sequel, Ranveer Singh reprises his role as Jaskirat Singh Rangi, continuing his covert mission inside Karachi’s criminal networks. The trailer suggests that his character is slowly rising within the underworld while secretly working to dismantle a terror operation from within.
The clip ends with a powerful line delivered by Ranveer Singh: “Now India will decide the future of Pakistan.”
The original Dhurandhar was released in theatres on December 5, 2025 and quickly emerged as one of the biggest hits of the year.
The film opened with ₹28 crore in India and crossed ₹103 crore during its first weekend. By the end of its theatrical run, it had collected ₹838.5 crore domestically and ₹1,303.35 crore worldwide.
Directed and co-produced by Aditya Dhar, the film blended espionage, geopolitical tension and large-scale action. Its storyline followed a secret intelligence operation designed to infiltrate criminal and political networks in Karachi.
Ranveer Singh led the film as an undercover operative who assumes the identity of Hamza Ali Mazari to gain the trust of a powerful Baloch gang.
The cast of the franchise includes Sanjay Dutt as SP Chaudhary Aslam, Arjun Rampal as Major Iqbal, R. Madhavan as intelligence officer Ajay Sanyal, Sara Arjun as Yalina Jamali and Rakesh Bedi as Jameel Jamal. Akshaye Khanna played the role of the gang leader Rehman Dakait in the first instalment.
The story ended with a major twist revealing that Hamza was actually Jaskirat, an operative sent into Pakistan as part of a larger intelligence mission. The first film is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge is expected to pick up directly from the cliffhanger ending of the original film. The sequel will further explore Jaskirat’s dual identity and the wider intelligence operation unfolding across borders. The narrative is also likely to focus on the shifting power dynamics within Karachi’s underworld following the death of Rehman Dakait.
Reports suggest that R. Madhavan’s character Ajay Sanyal will have an expanded role as he trains and guides Jaskirat in espionage tactics.
Backed by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, the film continues Aditya Dhar’s large-scale spy action franchise. Like its predecessor, the sequel has been mounted on a big scale and will release in multiple languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge is scheduled to arrive in theatres worldwide on March 19, 2026, with paid premiere screenings planned a day earlier. With strong advance bookings already underway, the film is expected to open to significant box office numbers.
